PPWC LOCAL 8
A Proudly Canadian Union
A Proudly Canadian Union
The Public and Private Workers of Canada (PPWC) constitution ensures that our union will be controlled by rank-and-file workers. We believe in full voice for our membership. Elections for PPWC officers are by referendum secret ballot vote at the plant level. The PPWC places emphasis on the membership not on top officials. We keep new people moving into office to prevent stagnation.
There are no trusteeship or administration provisions in our constitution enabling national union officers to come into a local and throw the local officers out of office or interfere with any decisions made by the local union.

Building a Better Future
Part One of a documentary has been produced by the Public and Private Workers of Canada, which focuses its proud history and its struggle for workers’ rights, environmental sustainability and social justice. Be sure to watch it in HD by clicking on the tiny circle in the bottom right corner when the video starts and then switch to 1080p HD.
For half a century, the PPWC has maintained its core principles through times good and bad. Predicting the slowdown in the pulp and paper industry in Canada, the union has fought hard to expand its membership to education, hospitality and health care workers.
